Plane Flies 'Fire John Idzik' Banner over New York Jets Practice

Dan CarsonNov 5, 2014

New York fans upped the ante in their campaign against John Idzik Wednesday, flying a banner over the Jets practice calling for the franchise to fire the general manager.

New York Daily News reporter Seth Walder tweeted a picture of the banner, which dragged across the sky as the team went about its preparation.

Photojournalist Andrew Mills snapped a closer picture of the trailing sign.

Newsday’s Kimberley A. Martin took a picture of Idzik watching on as the plane flew overhead.

Of course, this is just the latest in the growing anti-Idzik movement in the Jets fanbase. Leading the charge is Jason Koeppel, creator of FireJohnIdzik.com, a website currently raising money to buy billboard space in New York and New Jersey.

Walder reports that Koeppel’s site has raised enough money for three anti-Idzik billboards so far. One static billboard will be on display from November 17 to December 7 on Route 80, near Hackensack, New Jersey. Two digital boards are slated to be in operation from November 10 through December 28.

Thus the Jets' circus season of disappointment continues, and fans likely won’t be satisfied until Idzik and Rex Ryan are both run out of town on a flaming rail.

New York hosts the red-hot Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday. Make sure to look to the sky when you yourself roll your eyes this weekend, Jets fans. You might see a biplane up there doing all it can for a better tomorrow.
