However, Ronaldo did not previously come up against Kolo Toure, the cult hero who made a surprise start for the Reds at the Bernabeu for the Champions League clash.
Real went on to win the match 1-0 thanks to a Karim Benzema goal, but Toure still went on to produce a man-of-the-match performance in a losing effort.
