Kendall Hunter, 49ers Agree on New Contract: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction
A season-ending ACL tear for Kendall Hunter wasn't enough to stop the San Francisco 49ers from demonstrating their faith in him.
The team's official Twitter account announced Monday that the two sides have come to an agreement on a new contract, keeping the 26-year-old in San Fran through the 2015 NFL season:

Hunter is out for the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL during training camp, but as The Sacramento Bee's Matt Barrows explained, the team is confident in his ability to rehabilitate:
Averaging 4.6 yards per carry through his first three NFL seasons with the Niners, Hunter has proven to be a capable third-down and change-of-pace back who knows the system.
It's not surprising that San Francisco would want to keep him around with Frank Gore set for free agency in the offseason and Marcus Lattimore reportedly expected to retire, per ESPN's Adam Caplan.
Hunter won't surpass the talented Carlos Hyde on the depth chart even when healthy, but he's a solid player for depth and complements Hyde's running style well.
