Sergi Roberto Injury: Updates on Barcelona Star's Groin and Return

Sergi Roberto will miss Barcelona's Champions League tie with Ajax after suffering a groin strain, according to the Catalan club's website.

Barca also tweeted confirmation of the Spanish midfielder's absence:

Roberto "will not be on the flight to Holland," according to the official squad report. No time frame is given for his spell on the sidelines, but Barca officials will monitor the 22-year-old's progress over the coming days before determining his recovery programme.

His last appearance came in the Clasico loss to Real Madrid, which saw the youngster enter as a substitute with 18 minutes remaining, per WhoScored.com. Roberto last started during the 3-0 win over Eibar on Oct. 18.

Luis Enrique will also be without Andres Iniesta, Jeremy Mathieu and Thomas Vermaelen for the match against Ajax, per the club's website. Barca won the Camp Nou reverse fixture 3-1 and are expected to dominate at the Amsterdam Arena.
