Liverpool Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of November 3
The clocks have changed, Halloween has been and gone and stores are now turning our attentions to Christmas. In football terms, the white ball has made way for its yellow brother. The league table is beginning to take shape, and football-gossip columns are beginning to look towards the January transfer window.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers currently has his hands full with all kinds of problems at Anfield, plus a congested fixture list that sees his side currently in a run of eight games in 21 days. The Reds land in Madrid today ahead of the daunting match with European Champions Real on Tuesday night.
But with talk surrounding Steven Gerrard's contract dominating the weekend headlines, there are plenty of rumours surrounding Liverpool players to discuss.
Here's a round-up of the latest reports.
Man City Eyeing Gerrard
1 of 3
Manchester City are eyeing up captain Steven Gerrard, according to many of the papers over the weekend.
The Daily Mail quote City boss Manuel Pellegrini on Gerrard:
"I don’t ever rate players on their age. It depends on the money they cost and the number of years they can play for.
Like Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard is a top player and he can continue at a high level for a couple more years.
"
City are reportedly keen to sign Gerrard for financial fair play and homegrown-player reasons, much like their signing of Lampard from Chelsea this summer.
Gerrard to New York!
2 of 3
With Gerrard's contract situation in the news, he's bound to be linked with a move away from Anfield when his deal expires in the summer, but The Metro's claim that New York Cosmos, a side not even in Major League Soccer, could be Gerrard's destination, is one of the less believable.
They do add that LA Galaxy are another possible destination, slightly more likely at least.
Reports from "Metro Sport Reporter" are hardly likely to be the most reliable.
Edinson Cavani Linked
3 of 3
PSG forward Edinson Cavani, a man frequently linked with a move to Anfield in the summer, is linked with Liverpool in The Express.
They claim that "the former Napoli man insisted that he wants to stay in Ligue 1, he believes the unpredictable nature of football means a move could still transpire."
