Week One Preseason Predictions
The college football season is drawing closer, and the topics are slowly running out. To kill time I have decided to analysis and predict the top upcoming games in College Football week by week. These are my thoughts on the big games for the first week of the season. I previously wrote these on Vlesports.com and copied over to Bleacher.
Game 1 : Alabama vs Virginia Tech - I predict a low scoring game here. Two outstanding defensive teams with defensive minded coaches. I think Alabama has the stronger defense, but the questions on Offense will be there till we see them out on the field. Virginia Tech has a stronger offense going in because they have an established QB who has shown he is a threat. I think Alabama though can keep the ball on the ground and push the V Tech line enough to control the clock.
Prediction - Alabama 20 Virginia Tech 13
Game 2: Georgia vs Oklahoma State - Georgia lost big play makers to the draft. Oklahoma State doesn't even know the meaning of the word defense. This one is tough to pick, does Oklahoma State finally know how to stop anything? Can Georgia score with a whole new attack? I think Georgia has enough defense to contain the Oklahoma State attack, they won't stop it but containing it is all you need to beat this team.
Prediction - Georgia 35 Oklahoma State 32
Game 3: Miami vs Florida State - Inter state rivalries at their finest...the history of these two teams alone make it worth watching. Miami is growing more and more experienced, but so is the team on the other sideline. The Doak is one of the most intimidating stadiums in College Football, and it will be hostile for the University of Miami. I see Florida State edging them out in a game though; because their line should be one of the top lines in the nation and Ponder will be able to take his time and pick Miami apart.
Prediction - Florida State 34 Miami 23
Game 4 : Oregon vs Boise State - I won't even act like I know these teams...so I'm going with the team I picked to beat USC this year
Prediction - Oregon 38 Boise State 27
Game 5: Missouri vs Illinois - Missouri needs to find replacements for their big money play makers. Illinois was a huge disappointment last season after a Rose Bowl birth in 2007. I will leave out my hatred for Ron Zook here though and predict a solid win by Illinois because I don't see Missouri recovering from their losses this early in the season.
Prediction - Illinois - 42 Missouri 21
Other games
South Carolina 10 NC State 23
