Philadelphia Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans exited Sunday's game against the Houston Texans in the fourth quarter and will not return due to an ankle injury, the team announced on its Twitter page.
Pro Football Talk later reported more on Ryans' injury:
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported during the game that the injury would end Ryans' season.
Following the game, Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com provided a synopsis of Eagles head coach Chip Kelly discussing Ryans' injury:
Ryans was injured while trying to return an interception. The veteran linebacker picked off Houston's Ryan Fitzpatrick in the red zone but fumbled on his subsequent return, which was recovered by Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins. It appeared that Ryans' right ankle was landed on as he was lying on the ground when the play unfolded.
The two-time Pro Bowler had six tackles and the interception before exiting. Rookie Marcus Smith will get a majority of the snaps with Ryans out.
