Matt Simms' Updated Fantasy Outlook After Michael Vick's Injury
Just when the New York Jets thought their quarterback situation couldn't get much worse, Michael Vick went down in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs. With Geno Smith unavailable, Matt Simms, who was signed from the practice squad yesterday, was thrust into the spotlight:
| Comp./Att. | Yards | YPA | TDs | INTs |
| 3/8 | 39 | 4.9 | 0 | 0 |
| Carries | Yards | Avg. | TDs | --- |
| 1 | 2 | 2.0 | 0 | --- |
As Sporting News joked on Twitter, it was anybody's guess as to how this would work out:

Fortunately for the Jets, Vick was able to return, the team announced via Twitter:
Before Vick returned, Simms had a small window of time to display his talent.
Simms appeared in three games last year, completing 16-of-31 passes for 156 yards, one touchdown and an interception. In two years with the Tennessee Volunteers, the 26-year-old had 1,779 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Even if Vick and Smith are unable to play next week, Simms shouldn't register on your fantasy radar. The Jets passing game has been a complete mess this year, and the addition of Percy Harvin hasn't improved things dramatically, either.
Nobody will be rushing to add Simms to their team for next week even if he does end up having to play, which allows the situation to play out a little bit and reveal both Simms' role going forward and his fantasy viability.
