Juventus vs. Olympiakos: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

James DudkoNov 3, 2014

Juventus are already in must-win mode in this season's UEFA Champions League. The Bianconeri have won just once in Group A and must beat Olympiakos at home to keep qualification hopes alive.

That won't be an easy task. Olympiakos are now experienced campaigners in Europe's premier club competition.

However, at least Juve enter this game with reasonable confidence. Manager Massimiliano Alegri's team restored some optimism thanks to a recent 2-0 away win over Empoli in Serie A.

As he often is, ageless wonder Andrea Pirlo will be vital to Juve's chances for victory. The 35-year-old was one of the scorers against Empoli and remains the creative hub of this team.

Despite being in the winter of his career, Pirlo believes he's rarely been better, according to Mail Online reporter Gerard Brand:

"

Personally, I'm growing. I'm working hard and well during the week. I'm now close to my best condition.

It was important to win. We needed to immediately put the loss at Genoa behind us and take advantage of Roma's defeat.

It's an important sign for us, a clear message to all of the Scudetto challengers.

"

However, Pirlo was quick to switch focus to the Champions League and leave no doubt about the importance of this game: "My mind is already on Tuesday evening. The Olympiakos game is effectively a final."

Pirlo will need the help of his teammates such as young striker Alvaro Morata. The ex-Real Madrid prospect was a fellow goalscorer against Empoli, and he certainly has the talent to cause Olympiakos problems.

Morata combines power, height and superb technique. He'll need customary good delivery from Pirlo, as well as the support of typically dangerous late runs from midfield workhorse Claudio Marchisio.

If that combination clicks, Olympiakos will certainly struggle to cope. Of course, the Greek side did beat Juve 1-0 in Athens in their first meeting.

The squad features some seasoned quality in the form of ex-Barcelona playmaker Ibrahim Afellay. But the player Juve ought to be most wary of is striker Konstantinos Mitroglou.

Quick, mobile, tenacious and decisive, the 26-year-old Fulham loanee can cause problems in the air and on the ground. He'll need to be at his best if Olympiakos are going to leave Turin with any points.

Prediction: Juventus 2-1 Olympiakos

Pirlo and company will find the initial exchanges tough going. However, a moment of typical Pirlo magic will make the difference, before a late strike finishes the Greeks off.
