Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has an uncanny connection with the unknown.
...Or so he says.
GSP recently appeared on an episode of fellow former UFC superstar Chael Sonnen's podcast, You're Welcome, and the subject turned to aliens and unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
This is, of course, not the first time GSP has talked about space critters. His appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience in April 2013 turned heads, as GSP said he was afraid of aliens and that he frequently experiences lapses in time.
Since that time, GSP's connection with aliens has largely served as the butt of jokes, but the Canadian megastar went on Sonnen's podcast with a fresh story involving a few witnesses.
According to GSP, he, Rashad Evans, Mike van Arsdale, Ali Abdelaziz and a "fighter named Alejandro" saw a UFO while traveling in New Mexico.
As GSP tells the story, nobody in the group knew what happened, and the encounter was swift and painless.
"We're all in the car—and you can ask any of those guys, Rashad or Mike van Arsdale, Ali or Alejandro,—we were in the car in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on the highway, and we saw a UFO all together," GSP told Sonnen.
"'UFO' doesn't mean it's an alien; it means it's an unidentified flying object. I don't know what it was. It could've been a light. It's something we cannot explain. I saw it, it came straight toward us, and right away it changed direction and it disappeared."
Since GSP said "you can ask any of those guys," I gave Ali Abdelaziz a call to talk about this experience. According to the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) matchmaker and fighter manager, GSP's story is 100 percent true. That group saw something in New Mexico, and to this day, nobody has answers.
"We were just driving in the car and we see these crazy lights. It was a crazy shape," Abdelaziz told Bleacher Report. "I don't even know how to describe it…It wasn't just small. It looked like a car in the sky, like a space ship or something, you know? It was shaped crazy. I don't know how to describe it."
According to Abdelaziz, this event, which occurred in "2006 or 2007" by his estimate, wasn't just a one-time encounter, either.
"I never believed in this stuff, you know? And it freaked me out," he said. "It happened, and to this day, I never really discussed it with anybody. But he (Georges) is not crazy. I saw this thing a couple months later, I saw the same exact thing. Something that looked similar to it. It was in the sky for like 10 minutes. By myself.
"I was in the car by myself driving back from Greg Jackson's gym to where I was staying, and I saw it again. And I never really discussed it with anybody because I know how people are, they'll think I'm crazy or something. Everything Georges is saying is 100 percent true."
