WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from October 30, 2014

Erik BeastonOct 31, 2014

With the next NXT special, NXT Takeover: Evolution, set for December 11, it is becoming clearer and clearer that Sami Zayn's quest to wear the brand's heavyweight championship will culminate on that night with a match against current titleholder Adrian Neville. To get to that point, he must continue to overcome the roadblocks put in his way.

He did just that Thursday night, knocking off Titus O'Neil and fielding yet another challenge, this one from Tyler Breeze for a match next week.

No one said it would be easy, but Zayn is proving quite the resilient competitor, and that resiliency could prove key in capturing the title he has chased for nearly one whole year.

The Vaudevillains established themselves as the new No. 1 contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championships, Carmella picked up another huge win and Baron Corbin continues to destroy those foolish enough to step in the ring with him.

Who emerged from the October 30 episode of NXT as winners and who are in desperate need of a boost heading into the month of November?

Take a look for yourself.

Winner: Sami Zayn

As mentioned in the intro, Zayn picked up a huge win over Titus O'Neil this week, conquering the biggest test to date on his road to the NXT Championship.

The man formerly known El Generico took a hellish beating throughout the contest but seized an opening, caught O'Neil with a wicked exploder suplex and finished him with the Helluva Kick for the win.

The booking of the match was outstanding, as there is no way that anyone would believe someone like Zayn would be able to hang with the physically superior O'Neil. He was pummeled and tossed like a rag doll but stayed in the fight just long enough to catch his opponent off guard and pick up the win.

It plays up the toughness and never-say-die attitude of our hero and further positions him as the guy to end Neville's lengthy title reign come December 11.

Loser: Emma

The leader of the Emmalution returned to NXT this week to take on rookie Diva Carmella, who definitely does not lack confidence.

Almost from the get-go, the main-roster Diva found herself fighting from underneath, something that should have never been the case given her experience edge over her opponent. Sure, she mounted a comeback late but ultimately fell in defeat at the hands of the Staten Island stunner.

Emma is at the point in her career where she is still trying to overcome controversy and legal matters that encapsulated her life earlier this year, and unfortunately, that means staring at the lights rather than having her arm raised in victory.

Winners: The Vaudevillains

Almost from the moment Aiden English and Simon Gotch debuted as the Vaudevillains, fans knew the gimmick would work. The performances of the two stars, mixed with the unique concept, helped propel the act into the stratosphere.

Almost immediately, an act that should have never worked struck a chord with audiences, and Thursday night, their loyalty to the performers and the gimmick was repaid when the team became No. 1 contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championships held by the Lucha Dragons.

English and Gotch are so good that there really was no other team that could have conceivably won the Battle Royal and deserved it more than the most manly duo in all of NXT.

The future matches with Sin Cara and Kalisto should be a lot of fun to watch.

Winner: Baron Corbin

There is no other talent in NXT right now that screams "money!" quite like Baron Corbin. The guy is huge (6'8", 275 lbs), looks the part of a badass and carries himself in such a way that fans believe he can demolish any and all put in his path. He has a quiet charisma about him, a presence that sets him apart from some of the other big men who have debuted recently and failed to pick up the fan following that Corbin has.

The former Arizona Cardinal has an aura that surrounds him that this writer has not seen since Bill Goldberg and The Undertaker were at their heights of popularity. That is quite the statement and one that Corbin continues to back up every time he steps in the ring.

If Triple H can protect him from the idiotic booking of WWE Creative, the company could have big money in the physically imposing 30-year-old.

Loser: Tony Briggs

He was the unfortunate soul that shared the ring with Corbin.

Winner: Carmella

There are many women who come from a world outside of pro wrestling that struggle in the ring or on the mic, and it hampers their progress as a result. Thus far, Carmella has proved she's quite capable between the ropes, as evidenced with her match against Emma this week, and that her mic skills and camera presence are flawless.

Most importantly, she has a character fans can invest themselves in and has a great grasp of said character, something that makes her a threat to break out and become one of the elite Divas in NXT in the very near future.
