There's much more to like about Hootenanny than his favorable No. 5 starting position in Friday's opener of the Juvenile Turf.
The horse has worked exclusively in Europe in 2014, but the results have been nothing short of killer. He picked up two wins in four starts this year and closed it out with a second-place showing in the Darley Prix Morny in August.

Friday's competition will represent his toughest yet, however. That is headlined by War Envoy, as the Aidan O'Brien-trained horse looks to win his second race of 2014 in his eighth start.
War Envoy is no stranger to top finishes, and he'll wind up just behind the favorite in this one. Don't sleep on Conquest Typhoon, either, who has finished in second or better in each of his 2014 starts.
Prediction: 1. Hootenanny, 2. War Envoy, 3. Conquest Typhoon
| 1 | Goldencents | 6-5 |
| 2 | Carve | 15-1 |
| 3 | Vicar's in Trouble | 12-1 |
| 4 | Pants on Fire | 6-1 |
| 6 | Golden Ticket | 15-1 |
| 7 | Bronzo | 12-1 |
| 8 | Fed Biz | 7-2 |
| 9 | Tapiture | 6-1 |
| 10 | Big Bane Theory | 15-1 |
The Dirt Mile is one of the best events in the Breeders' Cup year in and year out, and it doesn't lack any appeal in 2014.
That is largely due to the arrival of Goldencents in Santa Anita Park. He'll be looking to make it 2-for-2 in the Dirt Mile, after winning the event at last year's Breeders' Cup.

After failing to impress in last year's Triple Crown slate, Goldencents has been a force to be reckoned with in 2014. He has a win and three place finishes in four 2014 starts, upping his career winnings to nearly $2.5 million.
Nothing will be able to stop Goldencents as he cruises to yet another Dirt Mile victory. The real race will be for second, which Tapiture will have no trouble winning by holding off Kentucky Derby letdown Vicar's in Trouble—who is set for an emergence on Friday.
Prediction: 1. Goldencents, 2. Tapiture, 3. Vicar's in Trouble
| 1 | Partisan Politics | 15-1 |
| 2 | Osaila | 5-1 |
| 3 | Sunset Glow | 7-2 |
| 4 | Lady Eli | 6-1 |
| 5 | Isabella Sings | 12-1 |
| 6 | Sivoliere | 12-1 |
| 7 | Rainha Da Bateria | 12-1 |
| 8 | Nicky's Brown Miss | 20-1 |
| 9 | Lady Zuzu | 15-1 |
| 10 | Quality Rocks | 20-1 |
| 11 | Conquest Harlanate | 10-1 |
| 12 | Tammy the Torpedo | 12-1 |
| 13 | Prize Exhibit | 20-1 |
| 14 | Qualify | 5-1 |
| 15 | Flying Tipat | 20-1 |
| 16 | War Alert | 20-1 |
A flock of international horses have headed to Santa Anita Park for Friday's Juvenile Fillies Turf, but all the talk revolves around the top domestic horse in the field.
That would appear to be Sunset Glow. She has won her last two appearances in Del Mar throughout August, making it 3-for-5 in wins in her 2014 appearances. The other two were second-place finishes.
If things go according to plan, Sunset Glow will have her way. But she won't have an easy time holding off a field with Lady Eli, Osaila and Qualify on her heels.
Lady Eli will validate 6-1 odds and compete long into the race but won't be able to win her third race in three 2014 appearances. A late surge will have her finishing in second, however, and Irish-bred Osaila will emerge in third.
Prediction: 1. Sunset Glow, 2. Lady Eli, 3. Osaila
| 1 | L'Amour de Ma Vie | 15-1 |
| 2 | Tiz Midnight | 10-1 |
| 3 | Iotapa | 6-1 |
| 4 | Belle Gallantey | 6-1 |
| 5 | Unbridled Forever | 20-1 |
| 6 | Stanwyck | 20-1 |
| 7 | Don't Tell Sophia | 5-1 |
| 8 | Valiant Emilia | 20-1 |
| 9 | Ria Antonia | 15-1 |
| 10 | Untapable | 5-2 |
| 11 | Close Hatches | 3-1 |
Each of Friday's first three races pack their own punch, but all of it will be somewhat of a prelude to the Distaff.
The top fillies in horse racing will go at it for a cool $2 million, and it should be hotly contested with a number of impressive horses in the field. But none boast the resume of Untapable.

It's quite easy to see why Untapable boasts 5-2 odds as the chief favorite in Friday's race. She has run in six races in 2014 and won five of them.
She's not alone at the top, with four other horses assuming 6-1 odds or better, with Close Hatches being among the most dangerous. But Tiz Midnight will sneak into the front late to notch her sixth second-place-or-better finish of 2014.
Prediction: 1. Untapable, 2. Tiz Midnight, 3. Close Hatches
