The New York Jets' quarterback situation has been a mess this season, with Geno Smith finally benched in favor of Mike Vick after throwing 10 interceptions to just seven passing touchdowns over the first eight games of the season.

So Rex Ryan anticipated questions regarding his starting quarterback during his press conference, and the light-hearted coach opened with an icebreaker:

Eric Allen @eallenjets

Rex opens up today's news conference with levity: 'We're going to go with (Madison) Bumgarner.' Calls Giants World Series hero a machine.

Ryan noted the clutch postseason performance by the San Francisco Giants lefty in the 2014 World Series, and with the way the Jets have played this season, they could use some of what Bumgarner has.

As the Jets' 1-7 season rolls on, it's nice to see Rex keeping his sense of humor.
