Eric Decker Asks Fans to Tweet Why They Love the Jets, Incites Mass Sarcasm

Eric Decker is new to the New York Jets this season and, as such, has yet to develop that hard-bitten cynicism ingrained in many of the Jets faithful.

The former Broncos wideout knows the 1-7 franchise is on the ropes, so he tweeted out a challenge to his followers in a harmless effort to raise morale in the ranks.

Decker offered a signed prize to the follower who could give him their best reason for loving the New York Jets. He floated his good intentions out there like a white dove. Jets fans yelled, “Pull!”

Taking aim, the grizzled masses of green and white fans unleashed a barrage of wry humor and sarcasm. Why do they love the Jets? Because they're stubborn gluttons for punishment.

Eric’s wife, Jessie James Decker, took to Twitter Thursday to defend her husband’s contest and remind everyone that fan pessimism and “haters” don’t affect their family’s happiness.

Indeed, pessimism and sarcasm never solved anything, but these things just so happen to be the bedrock upon which America's biggest city is founded.
