Patrick Peterson Injury: Updates on Cardinals Star's Ankle and Return

Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson was forced to leave the team's Week 11 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals with an ankle injury. However, he is ready to return.

While Peterson will have testing done on the injured ankle, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the "belief is it's a low-ankle sprain." Rapoport added it's "not major."

Peterson's Return Vital to Cardinals' Defense

The Cardinals used a top-five pick to grab Peterson in the 2011 draft. He's spent the past handful of years proving the franchise made the right decision. The LSU product quickly developed into a highly reliable corner with game-breaking ability.

He's also illustrated terrific durability. He hasn't missed a regular-season game in his career, including stretches when he was making an impact on special teams and receiving some offensive snaps. Those latter duties were taken away as his importance on defense increased.
