Bobby Roode Fights for Gold
In one of the most anticipated matches in company history, former world champion Bobby Roode finally gets another shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and reigning titleholder Lashley.
The two men have battled for weeks in the ring and on the mic (with a little help from MVP and Kenny King), and it was at No Surrender that Roode came close to beating The Destroyer, but he suffered a freak injury.
Now, Roode finally gets his rematch.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Will There Be Outside Interference?
The involvement of MVP and King in Lashley’s affairs over the recent weeks has many fans concerned that Roode’s shot at the title will be wasted by a run-in from one of the heels. Not to worry, though, as TNA executive director Kurt Angle has a plan.
Angle will be the special guest referee for the main event.
With Angle involved to ensure a clean finish one way or the other, the threat of outside interference has been minimized. If TNA plans to put the belt on Roode any time soon, it would be during Wednesday’s favorable matchup.
Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Pay-Per-View-Worthy Main Events
Impact Wrestling is heading into one of the most important times in its existence. There are questions about the long-term future of TNA and a new possible television deal, and it is imperative to position a top star as the face of the company now.
In the ring, on the mic, with the fans or speaking to the media, Roode is the face of TNA and the company’s most marketable homegrown star. As Impact Wrestling goes through some very important fundamental changes backstage, a steadying force like Roode at the helm will help steer the company through the tough times.
On Wednesday, Roode should become the new TNA world heavyweight champion.
TNA News: Ratings for Wednesday’s Impact Wrestling, per Marc Middleton of WrestlingInc.com.
Tag Team Tournament, Knockouts Action and More
The first round of the tag team No. 1 contender’s tournament was completed last week, and four teams have advanced to the semifinals. The two semifinals matches scheduled for Wednesday are Samoa Joe and Low Ki vs. MVP and Kenny King, and The Hardys vs. Ethan Carter III and Tyrus.
As much as MVP and Kenny King have entertained the fans, the duo of Samoa Joe and Low Ki are just too good. The only way Joe and Low Ki lose would be a heel turn, and that’s not likely. In the other match, as great as The Hardys are, TNA shouldn’t let ECIII and Tyrus lose after just debuting.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Will Taryn Terrell and Madison Rayne Work Together?
The Knockouts will be in action on Wednesday as The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) take on the unlikely duo of Taryn Terrell and Madison Rayne. For those who forgot, Rayne cheated to beat Terrell in a No. 1 contender’s match and has been acting like a heel ever since.
While this could all be a ruse to throw the casual fans off the trail of her remaining face, there is a possibility that The Beautiful People could add another member. With the history between Rayne, Sky and Love, the new heel stable could be dominant enough to actually take the belt away from Havok.
Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Thrown-Together Feuds
The combination of Magnus and Bram has been very entertaining since joining forces several months ago, but an attack on Devon with no rhyme or reason and the subsequent feud between the English pair and the hardcore legend has left many fans scratching their heads.
There is no question that Wednesday’s battle between the three men will satisfy the wrestling fans who enjoy the hardcore element in the product, but some storyline development to justify what will take place in the ring would be ideal.
TNA Rumors: Major announcement reportedly coming in November, according to Middleton.
