Latest News and Rumors Surrounding WWE 2K15 for Oct. 27
WWE 2K15 is nearly here.
Well, the version for current-generation consoles, to be specific. Fans who buy the game for either Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 won't get the sleek graphics the other editions offer, but they will get access to an exclusive NXT mode.
That addition, roster information and details for MyCareer mode highlight the latest news before WWE 2K15 hits stores.

WWE 2K15 comes out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Oct. 28 in North America and Oct. 31 internationally. The wait for the next-gen versions will be a bit longer: The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions will come out on Nov. 18 in North America and Nov. 21 in international markets.
More sneak peeks of what the game looks like have emerged.
Early Glimpses
Despite controversy regarding his inclusion in the game and the royalties associated with it, CM punk is still part of the WWE 2K15 roster.
A YouTube user who goes by Brian12Extreme appears to have gotten hold of a copy of the game early. He shared the following video of the 2K Showcase mode in action, with the player taking control of The Rock against Punk:
It shows the in-game checklist one must perform, including damaging Punk to a certain level, performing a taunt and hitting The People's Elbow.
Paul Heyman doesn't look great here. Keep in mind, though, that this is the current-gen version. The visuals will be much more impressive on the more advanced platforms.
That's evident in how great the NXT stars look on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. Smacktalks shares a number of screenshots of Corey Graves, Sami Zayn and Company:
Graves does look fantastic. The same can be said about some of the high-impact moves featured in 2K's first "What a Maneuver" video.
This compilation of gameplay clips shows Luke Harper diving out of the ring and Randy Orton and Batista teaming up to execute an RKO-Batista bomb combo:
That's going to be a fun move to pull off. Hopefully other double-team attacks are available.
Who Got NXT?
The biggest piece of news regarding the game as its release date nears is the reveal of a Who Got NXT mode. WWE.2K.com announced the feature, detailing how fans will take control of either Adrian Neville, Zayn, Rusev, Bo Dallas or Graves.
The Who Got NXT mode is only available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, making up somewhat for the fact that MyCareer will only be on the next-gen platforms.
The description includes the following:
"Each of the five NXT Superstars is assigned his own chapter consisting of four matches that players will need to complete in sequential order. The gameplay experience within each chapter is similar to 2K Showcase in that players are tasked with completing a number of optional objectives—three at the most—and a required match stipulation.
"
Smacktalks takes a look at the new mode, screenshots included:
This mode offers a welcome layer of gameplay. Pair this with the 2K Showcase mode, and there are a lot of options to dive into regardless of the console.
In addition, completing all five parts of Who Got NXT opens up Proving Ground. This will be much like last year's Defeat the Streak mode, where players fought against an impossibly difficult version of The Undertaker. This time around, it will be John Cena who is the formidable foe and the NXT Superstars who strive for an upset against him.
Getting the NXT stars through their stories unlocks them as playable characters. Once fans accomplish all the goals within the Who Got NXT mode, they will unlock the following items:
- NXT Arena
- NXT Arrival Arena (only available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360)
- NXT Championship
- NXT Tag Team Championship
- NXT Women's Championship
Other News, Notes
On Digital Spy, John Robertson writes of his hands-on experience with the game. One of the more notable items in his review focuses on the NXT story mode.
Players' actions will determine how their created wrestler is received. One doesn't simply choose an alignment but instead becomes a face or a heel over time. Robertson explains:
"After a match, for instance, a wrestler might come into the ring and confront you. Here you can choose to shake their hand and show the audience that you're a person of honor—one worthy of respect—or you can pretend to do exactly that before opting for that most dastardly of WWE tricks... the cheap shot to the groin. The former will click that morality meter over to the face side, the latter the heel side.
"
That promises to be a fun addition. It forces one to consider the power of every choice. It should play out like an RPG in that way.
WWE Games noted what the video game's resolution will be:
The Ultimate Warrior's Twitter account announced that the late Superstar will be a part of the game:
Paige will be too, as a reward for signing up for the Season Pass. She just won't be available right away, as WWE Games tweeted:
As for the rest of the roster, 2K has been a bit withholding in terms of revealing every wrestler that will be in the game. The full roster may have been leaked, though.
Attack of the Fan Boy posted a full roster screen that is only missing the NXT stars. This reveals that WWE 2K15 should have alternate versions of Punk, Orton, Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho and Batista.
It will soon be time to stop relying on leaks like this to see what the game offers. Fans are set to see it all for themselves.
