Colts' Andrew Luck Sets Team Record for Consecutive 300-Yard Games

Bleacher Report MilestonesOct 27, 2014

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck threw for 400 yards in Sunday's 51-34 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers to set a franchise record with his sixth consecutive 300-yard passing game, per Mike Chappell of RTV6 Indianapolis.

Luck broke the record of five games held jointly by him and Peyton Manning, who put together his own streak for the Colts during the 2009 season, per pro-football-reference.com's play index.

There have been 15 300-yard streaks lasting five or more games in league history, with only Joe Montana's in 1982 and Steve Young's in 1998 occurring before the 21st century.

Only seven streaks have gone six games or longer, and Drew Brees is the only player with a streak longer than seven games, having twice reached the 300-yard mark in nine consecutive contests.

Both of Brees' nine-game streaks spanned multiple seasons, with the first going from Nov. 2011 to Sept. 2012, while the second lasted from Nov. 2012 to Sept. 2013.

Manning's seven-game streak for the Denver Broncos between the 2012 and 2013 campaigns is third-best in league history, while Luck, Rich Gannon (2002), Kurt Warner (2000) and Young (1998) all own streaks of exactly six games.

On pace for a ridiculous 450 completions, 5,463 passing yards and 44 passing touchdowns, Luck is a good bet to earn the NFL's fourth-ever seven-game streak of 300-yard passing performances when the Colts face the New York Giants next Monday.
