WWE 2K15: Latest Video Trailers and Comments Before Release Date

Brian MaziqueOct 25, 2014

Now we're cooking.

Information about WWE 2K15 for both the current-generation (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) and the next-generation consoles is beginning to roll out. Finally...we have a current-gen exclusive to talk about.

On Friday, 2K Sports announced the Who Got NXT mode. Per information provided to Bleacher Report, the mode is similar to a traditional campaign, though it seems just a bit shorter. That's fine considering the PS3 and Xbox 360 version will also feature the 2K Showcase mode.

Essentially, Who Got NXT is there to take the place of MyCareer, which is a next-gen exclusive. Who Got NXT centers around five high-profile current and former superstars from the WWE's developmental organization. Gamers will need to win four matches each with Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn, Rusev, Bo Dallas and Corey Graves.

These matches aren't recreations from history like many of the single-player modes in WWE games. They are more like like one-off battles with no references to past matches.

Who Got NXT will allow current-gen gamers the opportunity to unlock the NXT superstars, their moves, etc. Each match has specific objectives. To unlock everything available and to pass through the mode, all objectives must be met for each match.

Aside from the superstars and their movesets, there are several other NXT-specific goodies to unlock.

  • NXT Arena
  • NXT ARRIVAL Arena (only available on current-gen!)
  • NXT Championship
  • NXT Tag Team Championship
  • NXT Women’s Championship

If you complete all four chapters with each superstar, the Proving Grounds mode will be unlocked. This picks up where WWE 2K14's Defeat the Streak mode left off. Last year, gamers had to take down an over-powered version of the Undertaker.

In WWE 2K15, the NXT superstars will go battle a version of John Cena that is chock full of hustle, loyalty and respect. So this will be a pretty tough match to win. If you beat Cena with all five NXT superstars, you will unlock the entire roster (including created superstars).

Next-Gen Goodness

The news of the day was about current-gen, but let's not totally ignore the sensational trailer that dropped during this week's episode of Monday Night Raw. If you missed it, here it is.

Aside from some pretty slick presentation and thematic elements in the video, there was also more eye candy as the game's visuals promise to be among the best we've seen in a sports video game.

We also got our first in-game glimpse of the Ultimate Warrior. The late WWE legend's Twitter account acknowledged the inclusion of his likeness.

Up until Friday, the hype was almost entirely aimed toward the next-gen version of WWE 2K15. Thanks to this trailer, that momentum is still intact. However, the Who Got NXT mode succeeded in establishing some buzz for the current-gen product as well.

WWE 2K15 releases for PS3 and Xbox 360 on Oct. 28 and for PS4 and Xbox One on Nov. 18.
