WWE 2K15: Who Got NXT Mode Announced for PS3 and Xbox 360

Brian MaziqueOct 24, 2014

Just when it looked like the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of WWE 2K15 wouldn't have any exclusive modes, details of the Who Got NXT mode have been revealed.

Per information provided to Bleacher Report, the mode is similar to a traditional campaign, and it centers around five high-profile current and former NXT superstars. Gamers will be charged with the task of winning four huge matches with Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn, Rusev, Bo Dallas and Corey Graves.

You can read about the mode in greater detail here.

These matches aren't recreations of real bouts from the Superstar's careers. They are more like ultimate clashes with contemporaries that come without the need to follow a real-life script.

The idea behind the mode, which is designed to take the place of MyCareer (a next-generation console exclusive), is to allow current-generation gamers the opportunity to unlock the NXT superstars, their moves, entrances, etc. It also gives current-gen gamers an exclusive experience.

"

We wanted to create a mode or area of the game where players could control a handful of NXT Superstars with the stipulation they’d be strictly confined to the mode and not be available for use outside of said mode until certain requirements had been fulfilled by the player. When I say confined, I mean confined!

Until completing said requirements, NXT Superstars would be prohibited from all game modes (e.g. Exhibition, Online, Creation Suite, Universe), and their associated assets (e.g. moves, entrance videos, etc.) would be locked. We wanted the unlocking of an NXT Superstar to be similar to that of an actual NXT Superstar being called up to the main roster.

"

That's a pretty fun concept, and it could be really awesome if the reveal comes through with and over-the-top, dramatized presentation. That's always the key with anything associated with pro wrestling. It's what distinguishes it from other brands of athletic entertainment.

Each NXT Superstar's chapter contains four matches with specific objectives to complete.

Aside from the Superstars and their move sets, here's what you can unlock by completing each Superstar's chapters and the associated objectives:

  • NXT Arena
  • NXT ARRIVAL Arena (only available on current-gen!)
  • NXT Championship
  • NXT Tag Team Championship
  • NXT Women’s Championship

Completing all four chapters with each Superstar unlocks the Proving Grounds mode. This mode is the sequel to WWE 2K14's Defeat the Streak mode. In last year's game, gamers had to find a way to beat a souped-up version of the Undertaker.

In WWE 2K15, your NXT Superstars will have to go face-to-face with the man who runs the place, a.k.a John Cena.

Cena will have on his Superman pajamas (not literally), so he'll be a handful to defeat. If you defeat Cena using all five NXT Superstars, then you will unlock the entire roster (including created Superstars). That certainly serves as some incentive to play this mode.

Williams also mentions: "if you force Cena to submit, you’ll score a huge win bonus!"

Well then...business just picked up for the current-generation version of WWE 2K15.
