Kevin Strootman is nearing a long-awaited return from knee surgery, revealing he is feeling good in training.

The Roma star was quoted saying by Voetbal Primeur, per Liam Prenderville of the Daily Mirror:

"

I feel better and better. I am now in training with the Roma squad and I'm happy.

I want to support my team and play again very quickly.

"

Update from Tuesday, Nov. 4

Kevin Strootman is set to take a major step forward in his bid to return to first-team action following knee surgery.

The Roma midfielder will take part in a youth game on Sunday, reported by Corriere della Sera via Football Italia:

"

The Corriere della Sera reports that Strootman will be gradually reintroduced to the first team, and will make his return to match action with the Primavera side on Sunday.

The newspaper reports that Strootman will line up for Alberto De Rossi’s side against Latina, with the game being played at Testaccio rather than Di Bartolemei so that Strootman doesn’t have to play on synthetic grass.

Original Article from Friday, Oct. 24

Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman is edging closer to a return as he works toward full fitness after an ACL injury suffered back in March.

Giallorossi manager Rudi Garcia still wasn't ready to put a definitive timetable on the star's first game back in the starting lineup. He did provide a brief update on his status:

The injury forced Strootman to miss the Netherlands' World Cup run. Now, he's trying to make a comeback to help Roma keep pace with Juventus atop the Serie A table. The sides are separated by just one point through seven matches.

He was enjoying an outstanding campaign before going down with the injury last spring. Roma won't rush him back until he feels completely confident in his knee, but he'll undoubtedly provide a boost once that moment does arrive.
