Conor "Notorious" McGregor might not be getting that UFC featherweight title shot just yet.

After four consecutive wins inside the UFC Octagon and a report from MMAWeekly.com that he'd be seated cageside at UFC 179 in Brazil to watch featherweight champ Jose Aldo defend his title against Chad "Money" Mendes, McGregor looked to be in line for the next crack at 145-pound gold.

Now, however, a report from MMAJunkie.com's Steven Marrocco indicates that McGregor will have another fight before he receives his shot at the belt. According to Marrocco, the UFC is currently looking to pit McGregor against German spark plug Dennis Siver on Jan. 18 in Boston at a rare Sunday event that is yet to be named.

The sources close to the situation speaking under the "condition of anonymity" revealed this news to Marrocco, and while nothing is signed for the fight at this moment, it looks like all systems are go for McGregor vs. Siver.

With this fight, McGregor will face another strikeran older, slower and more worn-down one, at that. While Notorious has looked practically perfect throughout his UFC run thus far, he's lost twice in his professional career via submission, and questions still linger regarding his ability to handle a top-heavy, dominant grappler.

Siver does not fit that criteria.

While the fight probably will not show us anything new from McGregor, the idea of a charismatic, boisterous, knockout artist of an Irishman fighting in Boston is exciting, and McGregor never struggles to generate interest before a fight.

Siver, on the other hand, is coming off a Fight of the Night performance against Charles Rosa, a fight that he won via unanimous decision. For his victory, Siver recently moved to No. 10 in the official UFC rankings, putting him five spots below McGregor at the moment.

Stay tuned to Bleacher Report for an official fight announcement of this featherweight clash.
