Real Madrid Credit Cristiano Ronaldo for Equalling Raul's Goals Record Early

Real Madrid have more than enough reasons to give credit to Cristiano Ronaldo without making them up, but dedicating an article to the Portugal international equalling Raul's record of Champions League goals was premature given he hasn't equalled it yet.

Raul, a Real legend in his own right, has long topped the list of scorers with 71 strikes for the Spanish giants and Schalke.

Ronaldo's goal in the 3-0 win at Liverpool moved him one closer but only gets him to 70, as per worldfootball.net amongst others.

One thing is all but certain: Ronaldo will pass Raul's landmark and fast. So the story on Real's website can be used again when the time is right:

But there's always the Messi factor in the background: Lionel Messi has just one goal fewer and could claim that record first or at least swap it back and forth a few times with Ronaldo as the two dominate Europe once more.
