Nate Washington Trade Rumors: Latest Buzz, Speculation Surrounding Titans WR

Joseph ZuckerOct 22, 2014

With the NFL trade deadline less than a week away, teams are frantically attempting to finalize whatever deals they have on the table. According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Nate Washington may be on the move very soon.

During an interview on NFL Total Access, Rapoport revealed that the Titans may be looking to offload expensive veterans, and Washington could be one such player (via Around the NFL):

After posting impressive numbers in 2013, the 10-year veteran has gotten off to a rough start in 2014, with 13 receptions for 169 yards and no touchdowns. Bleacher Report's Cian Fahey feels that Washington has really fallen off in the space of a year:

As Washington's struggled, Justin Hunter has risen up the depth chart, which likely would play into the Titans' decision to let Washington go in the event he's traded:

Tennessee's already been active in the trade market, dealing linebacker Akeem Ayers to the New England Patriots:

There's no question that Washington's value is near its nadir. Leaving aside his rookie season, in which he played one game, he's on pace to set a career low in receiving yards and is approaching that territory in terms of receptions.

However, Washington is one year removed from catching 58 passes for 919 yards and three touchdowns. Should he move away from Tennessee and play with a more consistent quarterback, his numbers could begin ticking upward.

Adding Washington isn't the kind of move that turns a playoff team into a Super Bowl contender, but he would add some depth at wide receiver to his new team.
