Original Text
Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett's status for Week 8 against the New England Patriots has become cloudy due to an injury.
According to Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times, Bennett didn't practice Wednesday due to a hamstring injury:
Bennett later said that he was just receiving a day off and will practice on Thursday, via Zach Zaidman of CBS 2 Chicago:
The silver lining is Bennett wasn't removed from last week's loss against Miami, so this could be a precautionary measure. He's emerged as one of Jay Cutler's favorite targets with 41 receptions, 422 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Bennett is a matchup nightmare, especially in the red zone. He's listed at 6'6" and 265 pounds, so the Bears need that body healthy if they want to turn their disappointing season around before the issues on offense get out of hand.
