NFL Odds: Opening Spreads for Week 8 Betting

OddsShark.comOct 21, 2014

The San Diego Chargers will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 23-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs when they visit the Denver Broncos on Thursday night as early 6.5-point underdogs on the NFL betting lines for Week 8.

With a win, the Chargers can claim a share of first place in the AFC West alongside the Broncos, who are riding high following their historic 42-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning tossed four touchdown passes in that win to pass Brett Favre for top spot on the NFL’s all-time list.

Manning, who now has 510 career touchdown passes, has fueled the Broncos’ recent dominant play; three straight wins, straight up and against the spread, while averaging almost 39 points per game.

The Chargers have cooled down following a torrid 5-1 start to the season SU and ATS. San Diego posted a pair of SU wins as underdogs over Seattle and Buffalo early on, but failed to cover as 7.5-point favorites in a 31-28 win over the Oakland Raiders prior to last weekend’s loss to Kansas City.

However, the Bolts have enjoyed recent success at Mile High, winning SU in four of their last six visits, while going 5-1 ATS in those contests.

The Cincinnati Bengals will look to end a three-game winless streak when they take on the red-hot Baltimore Ravens as early 2.5-point favorites at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

The Bengals are 0-2-1 SU and 0-3 ATS since starting the season with three straight wins. A 37-37 tie with Carolina two weeks ago ended Cincy’s 11-game regular season winning streak at home, followed by an embarrassing 27-0 loss to Indianapolis in which they amassed just 135 total yards of offense.

The Ravens are coming off a 29-7 win over Atlanta, their second straight win ATS and their fourth this season by double-digits. However, Baltimore is just 1-4 SU and ATS in its last five visits to Cincinnati heading into Sunday’s Ravens vs. Bengals betting matchup at Paul Brown Stadium.

Elsewhere on the NFL gridiron this week the struggling Seattle Seahawks visit the inconsistent Carolina Panthers as three-point road underdogs.

Also, the Buffalo Bills will look to continue their winning ways when they face the New York Jets as 2.5-point favorites, while the Colts will be gunning for their sixth consecutive SU win when they visit the resurgent Pittsburgh Steelers as early 1.5-point favorites.
