Houston Texans vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Live Score and Analysis for Pittsburgh

Mike BatistaOct 20, 2014

A 24-point burst late in the first half catapulted the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 30-23 win over the Houston Texans Monday night at Heinz Field.

The Steelers trailed 13-0 in the second quarter and looked listless, then scored 24 points in a span of 2:54 to take a 24-13 halftime lead.

A Shaun Suisham field goal and a 35-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger to rookie Martavis Bryant made it 13-10. Then the Steelers forced two turnovers deep in Texans territory. They took advantage with a three-yard touchdown pass from Antonio Brown to Lance Moore to take a 17-13 lead and a two-yard TD pass from Roethlisberger to Le'Veon Bell that made it 24-13.

The Steelers (4-3) increased the lead to 30-16 in the fourth quarter, but the Texans (3-4) wouldn't give up. They scored a late touchdown and attempted an onsides kick, but Michael Palmer recovered for the Steelers to sew up the victory.

Bell caught eight passes for 88 yards and ran the ball 12 times for 57 yards. Roethlisberger completed 23 of 33 passes for 265 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Antonio Brown caught nine passes for 90 yards, and the Steelers forced three turnovers in a game for the first time since Week 12 last season at Cleveland.

The Steelers once again avoided a losing record. They maintained their pattern of alternating between .500 or a game over .500 this season. They'll have another shot at going two games over .500 for the first time since 2012 when they host the Indianapolis Colts next week.
