Donald WoodOct 21, 2014

Wrestling fans and video game enthusiasts alike have been excited for weeks about the release of WWE 2K15, but the wait will be over Tuesday, October 28 when the game is finally available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Gamers with a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will have to wait until November 18 for the release on those systems.

The move to the next generation of consoles has promised an improvement in the graphics, but the gameplay itself has been drastically updated. Add in the addition of the MyCareer mode, and this will likely be the best wrestling game to date.

There are many interesting additions and upgrades to the roster for WWE 2K15, but the most intriguing Superstar making his first appearance in a WWE game is former NWA, WCW and TNA champion Sting.

Wrestling fans who have watched the sport for many years understand the impact The Icon had on the industry, and to see him working with the WWE on this video game is a huge coup for the company.

Most fans believed Sting would never work with the WWE.

For gamers, there will be two playable Sting characters. Not only can they use the black-and-white Sting who fought the nWo in the mid- to late-1990s, but fans can also use the colorful surfer Sting from the early '90s.

Regardless of which Sting you remember from when you were younger, the possibility of taking The Icon and squaring him off against WWE Superstars and legends is an intriguing concept. Be prepared for the steady onslaught of Sting vs. The Undertaker matches in the game this year.

One of the best parts of each installment of the WWE series is the DLC. Fans can purchase this year’s Season Pass for $24.99, and it will include three additional 2K Showcase stories, the accelerator perk and former Divas champion Paige, according to Luke Karmali of IGN.com.

The most intriguing part of the DLC is the 2K Showcase storylines. From The Ultimate Warrior to Mark Henry to Christian and Randy Orton, it adds even more depth to a mode that promises to be a great upgrade to the series.

Hardcore wrestling fans will also appreciate the downloadable characters in the NXT and WCW packs. From Adam Rose and The Ascension to Bam Bam Bigelow, Diamond Dallas Page and Lex Luger, you will take a trip down memory lane and watch the future of the business at the same time.

Breaks Wiz Khalifa & John Cena

Curated by John Cena, the soundtrack for WWE 2K15 follows in the same vein as the NBA 2K series with top stars picking the song list. The tracks are mostly rap and hip-hop, but there are a few rock and country songs sprinkled in as well.

The real noteworthy addition to the soundtrack is two songs featuring Wiz Khalifa and John Cena. The former Doctor of Thuganomics was known for his rap game back in the day, but Khalifa gets Cena out of his shell for two main event tracks.

You can listen to the song "Breaks" featuring Khalifa and Cena here:

It may be too much to ask, but Cena’s return to the rap game should be something he plays off during WWE programming. For years, the complaint about Cena’s character has been the lack of an edge, and he was at his best with the rapping gimmick. Maybe teaming with Khalifa is the boost he needed.
