Anthony Chapman of the Express reports that Real Madrid are keen to agree a permanent deal for on-loan Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.

The loan agreement is thought to include an option for Madrid to purchase Hernandez at the end of the season for an pre-agreed fee, but Chapman indicates they will try and negotiate that figure down.

He writes that previous reports have suggested the agreed fee to be in the region of £17 million, while Madrid are willing to pay just £12 million to make the transfer permanent.

Il Corriere dello Sport (h/t Football Espana) report that Napoli are interested in signing Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Arbeloa.

Arbeloa is out of contract at the end of the season and Napoli are hopeful of getting a deal done in January in order to provide cover for Faouzi Ghoulam, who will head to the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria.

If he did move to Naples, Arbeloa would be reunited with Rafael Benitez, who signed him during his time with Liverpool.

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani appears to have ruled out a move for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

"Khedira is a player who would be great for AC Milan," Galliani said on Monday, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t Football Espana). "But there is one problem. It is that he earns too much."

Bruce Archer of the Daily Star reports that Manchester United hope to beat Arsenal and Chelsea to the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

Khedira is out of contract at the end of the season and is expected to leave Madrid—either in January, or on a free transfer next summer.

Arsenal and Chelsea have previously been heavily linked with the German international, but Archer writes that United will seek to entice Khedira to Old Trafford by offering him a higher wage than either of their rivals.

Archer suggests that United could be prepared to pay Khedira close to £200,000 per week, which would represent a near-£50,000 increase over his current contract.

Monday, October 20

Carlo Ancelotti has told The Sun (h/t AS) that he is "100% certain" Cristiano Ronaldo will remain at the club next season.

Ronaldo has been linked with a return to Manchester United, but Ancelotti was unequivocal in his response when questioned about the forward's future.

"

Ronaldo will go to the end of his career at Real Madrid. I’m certain 100 per cent he will be here next season not at Manchester United. 100 per cent.

He’s happy here he’s loved here by everyone. The club is happy to have the best player in the world. It’s a perfect relationship at this moment so I don’t think it will change. Ronaldo will finish his career here.
