Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of October 20
Tottenham Hotspur suffered another substantial defeat in their most recent clash and showed a real defensive vulnerability. The 4-1 defeat to Manchester City exposed the clear limitations of the Younes Kaboul-Federico Fazio partnership.
Spurs likely need one or two new defenders to supplement a limited back line.
Happily, Spurs' attack looked the best it has so far this season (except against Queens Park Rangers). Mauricio Pochettino is likely still searching for attacking reinforcements but an encouraging performance from Roberto Soldado lessens the urgency somewhat.
The transfer window is now only 10 weeks away and it can be expected that some more legitimate rumours will now begin to emerge.
This article will be updated throughout the week with all the latest transfer news and rumours.

Spurs Linked to Unlikely Lloris Replacement
1 of 3
It is an unfortunate reality that Lloris is far too good to be playing in the Europa League and in a team that is routinely thrashed by the Premier League's big boys. He could play for any club in the world and, if Spurs fail to progress, he is likely to seek a move sooner or later.
According to the reports, Spurs are looking around for alternatives to Lloris in case the France captain should choose to leave.
The Mirror suggests that Toulouse's Ali Ahamada, available for £9 million, is the favoured alternative.
Ahamada is yet to make an appearance for Toulouse this season having been displaced by Zacharie Boucher. Ahamada is error-prone and realistically not in the same conversation as Lloris.
Spurs have Michel Vorm as number two right now but he would likely remain as the reserve if they sign a £9 million keeper.

Lukas Podolski Not Coming to Spurs
2 of 3
With a series of cringe-inducing hashtags, Germany international Lukas Podolski has denied reports that he'll be joining Spurs, per Metro.
While the origin of the rumour appears to have been CaughtOffside.com, a less-than-reliable source of transfer news, Podolski's reaction smacks of desperation for relevance.
It would be an extremely unlikely transfer.
Podolski made just 20 appearances for Arsenal last season and remains a last resort this term. He is likely to be moved on in January.
Spurs Moving to Re-Sign Eriksen
3 of 3
According to the Mirror, Christian Eriksen is ready to sign a new contract with Spurs. Eriksen was Spurs' best player last season and has continued to blossom under Mauricio Pochettino.
Asked to play a more rounded role, the Dane has struggled to complete games and been substituted often. When he has been on the pitch, though, he's again been one of Tottenham's most influential players.
His form is on a significant upswing, he set up the goal against Arsenal and then scored against Southampton and Manchester City, so it is no surprise that Spurs are moving to secure him for the long term.
