Boise State AD Getting All Credit for the 2010 Game with Virginia Tech?
Well it’s not like Bleymaier had nothing to do with the game, but just exactly what he did seems questionable following Chad Cripes report released today in the Friday issue of the Boise Statesman.
According to Cripe’s article, Mr. Zack Bolno, the executive director of communications for the NFL’s Washington Redskins stated, “We approached Virginia Tech about playing a major opponent,” ... “As we began to look for an opponent, we decided to pursue Boise State. They were our No. 1 choice.”
In other words Zack Bolno sought out Virginia Tech and Boise State, and as for the Oct. 2, 2010 game being played at FedEx Field that had nothing to do with Bleymaier or the VT rep. As the Redskins deserve all the credit for seeking both teams.
OK then, having said that, instead of Gene Bleymaier receiving all the “at a boys” for arranging this game, it looks like he should be credited with the financial end alone, which is awesome (if Gene’s responsible for that payout he did one heck of a job [If he was?]).
Cripe also said WAC commissioner Karl Benson guessed the 2010 game might be the single most paid out for any collegiate game to date ($1.25 mil.) The amount VT is getting to play the Broncos is not being released by the Redskins, as of yet.
The bottom line here is Bronco fans are excited that Mr. Zack Bolno and his Redskin organization thought the Boise State and Virginia Tech football teams were the two best to kick off what they hope to be a long series of quality college football games.
According to Cripe, Bolno said, “We’re working on securing great college football games for the D.C. metropolitan area,” Bolno said.
Oh well Bronco fans, Bleymaier still has to lock down a guarantee game for the 2011 season. Unless someone seeks out the Broncos (once again) for the 2011 vacancy, Gene can show once and for all his merits for bringing quality games for the Boise State Bronco schedules.
Come on Bleymaier strike while the iron is hot. Go get Michigan, Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, or even the Washington Huskies, one more time (in Seattle). Bronco fans are waiting and hoping and that’s another story.
