Odell Beckham Jr, Rueben Randle's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 7

Steven CookOct 19, 2014

The struggles were aplenty for the New York Giants in a 31-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7, but wideouts Odell Beckham Jr. and Reuben Randle still found ways to make an impact for fantasy owners.

Beckham had arguably the best game of his young career with two touchdowns and 34 yards on four catches, also taking an end-around 13 yards. Randle was targeted a team-high nine times, catching six passes for 74 yards.

Here are the duo's final stats:

High hopes were laid on Beckham's shoulders after the Giants selected him 12th overall in May's NFL draft, but he didn't make his debut until Week 5 due to injury. He caught a touchdown in his first game against Atlanta, but only had 72 yards on six catches through two games.

Sunday was a different story, with Beckham breaking out for two scores. ESPN's Ed Werder noticed Eli Manning's endorsement of the rookie rang true:

Randle came into Week 7 off three straight strong performances, notching a combined 170 yards and a score. After being targeted more than anyone else, the 56.4 percent of ESPN fantasy owners who have picked up Randle should be feeling good despite an average performance in Week 7.

With Victor Cruz's season-ending injury opening up more opportunities for Giants wideouts, both Randle and Beckham look to be among Manning's best targets. Manning constantly looked to Beckham in the red zone and targeted Randle during key moments, both of which should continue into the future as they look to fill Cruz's shoes.

Manning bounced back on Sunday with three touchdowns and no picks after last week's debacle in Philadelphia, and that should bode well for these Giants wideouts.

However, immediate expectations should be a bit tempered. New York is on a bye in Week 8 before facing the red-hot Indianapolis Colts in Week 9.
