Eli Manning, Daniel Fells, Larry Donnell's Post-Week 7 Fantasy Reaction

Nate LoopOct 19, 2014

The New York Giants' level of play can change drastically from week to week, but they showed their good side against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7 thanks to a solid start from Eli Manning.

Manning threw two first-half touchdowns against the 'Boys, including a 27-yard scoring strike to tight end Daniel Fells. Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News noted that Fells might have bailed out Manning on the play:

It was Fells' only catch of the first half, although there weren't many receptions to go around, as Manning completed just eight passes after two quarters This certainly didn't help those fantasy owners still holding out hope for a Larry Donnell revival.

After scoring three touchdowns against the Washington Redskins in Week 4, Donnell has mostly disappeared from the offense. He caught just one pass for 16 yards in the first half against the Cowboys.

Donnell got much more involved in the second half, recording six catches for 74 yards. Unfortunately, he tanked his fantasy numbers with two lost fumbles. It's an encouraging sign after recording just a lone catch in his previous two games, but Donnell might have squandered any goodwill he built up and is a TE2 until he shows greater consistency.

Fells touchdown grab was excellent, but he's clearly second fiddle to Donnell and isn't worth having on a fantasy team.

Manning came into the game as the 11th-best fantasy QB in the league, per ESPN.com. That would make him a borderline starter in larger leagues, but his week to week volatility means there are safer options out there. He's definitely worth having on your squad, but with tough games against the Colts, Seahawks and 49ers coming up, he's more of a QB2.
