San Francisco Radio Stations Ban Lorde's 'Royals' During 2014 World Series

Lorde fans in San Francisco will have to use their iPods if they want to listen to the singer's hit song "Royals" for the next week or so.

The San Francisco Giants will battle the Kansas City Royals in the 2014 World Series, so the city is doing everything it can to support its team. That includes making sure that Lorde's popular song isn't played while the Fall Classic plays out.

Update from Monday, October 20

As reported by SB Nation, Kansas City radio station 99.7 The Point has retaliated to the ban by playing Lorde's "Royals" every hour on the hour for 12 hours on Tuesday.

This decision was something that had to happen in the Bay Area. Earlier this year, Lorde received a Royals jersey from Kansas City legend George Brett:

Who knows if the radio stations will decide to extend the ban should the Royals win the World Series.
