Chygrynskiy Could End Up In Camp Nou As Cana Makes Surprise Switch

Choon Yau TanJul 24, 2009

These could be old news for fans on the other side of the globe but to me, these are breaking news. I woke up at 7.43 a.m. (London time approximately 11-12 Friday midnight) and saw these interesting news which I didn't see before I went for sleep.

Dmitri Chygrynskiy had earlier snubbed Barcelona to remain at Shakthar Donetsk. The reason was he wanted to play every game. At the age of 22, he is regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe.

Apparently, Chygrynskiy has issued a plea to coach Mircea Lucescu to allow him to join Barcelona. Lucescu admitted that the player has sent a transfer request later in an interview and promised to allow him to discuss personal terms with the Catalan giants.

“When a team like Barcelona ask, you cannot say no,” the former Inter coach began, continuing, “I understand the player, because he want to go to Barcelona with all his heart. Who would not want to? Every player on the planet would want to."

“I also understand that the club have a need to sell. He will prove to be a great signing for Barcelona”, Lucescu added.

Putting aside the possible transfer, let's look at a done deal.

Lorik Cana has just signed for Sunderland!

The Albanian skipper was previously linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool, the move never seemed very likely but a move to Sunderland is a real surprise.

The tough holding midfielder was signed for a fee around £5 million and has penned a four-year contract.

Steve Bruce made the right signing, he has signed a good defensive midfielder for a bargain.

Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will undergo a medical at Camp Nou on Sunday.
