Ryan Tannehill, Mike Wallace, Charles Clay's Post-Week 7 Fantasy Reaction

Rob GoldbergOct 19, 2014

Ryan Tannehill has had an up-and-down season, but a strong performance against the Chicago Bears showed that there is some value in the Miami Dolphins passing game.

Here is a look at how the key members of the team fared in Week 7:

Instead of staying in the pocket and waiting for the pressure to come, the quarterback moved around the field in Week 7 and utilized his athleticism. NFL analyst Benjamin Allbright noted the major change:

This led to plenty of success early on for Tannehill, as noted by Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune:

Charles Clay and Mike Wallace were both beneficiaries of the improved offense, each scoring touchdowns in the first half. Of course, the ball was spread around a lot over the course of the game, which kept a wide variety of players involved.

Although Tannehill has been inconsistent this season, Wallace has been solid. The veteran receiver came into the game leading the team with 313 receiving yards with four touchdowns. His quarterback trusts him and looks his way early and often to total 44 targets coming into the week.

If the latest changes to the passing game are for real, Wallace can expect more good games and could become a legitimate WR2 on fantasy teams going forward. This is not someone you want to sell high on when he could have more good games ahead.

Meanwhile, Clay had not been able to get into the end zone until this game, but the good news is he has always been a big part of the offense. With him adding touchdowns, he could once again be a quality fantasy option at tight end, especially with so few players at the position.

He might not be an immediate starter in most leagues, but he could be a good fill-in for injuries or bye weeks.

As for Tannehill, you might want to wait to see if he can remain consistent before snatching him up on waivers. He has certainly had good games in his young career, although he has also struggled immediately after.

While the quarterback should be on your radar, do not go overboard trying to get him after one good game.
