NFL Rushing Power Rankings

Rushing power rankings

As the 2010 football season is getting closer and closer I began to wonder what NFL teams will have the best rushing attack. I put together a list of the top 5 teams that I am sure will have great seasons in the rushing category.

1.  The Minnesota Vikings- This is a no brainer when you have the NFL's leading rusher returning for another great year in the NFC North. I project Adrian Peterson to get between 1500-1650 rushing yards pending on the QB situation given. If its Favre here , they will more likely pass the ball more since they have more faith in a veteran like him, If its Jackson, look for the team to lead the way in rushing since Jackson has the abilities to get loose and gain some ground yards from time to time. Another major reason they are number one is because they have another great back on the roster with the name of Chester Taylor who really is a great complement to Peterson.Look for Taylor to gain 400-500 yards on the ground.

2. The Atlanta Falcons- By the looks of things Michael Turner is going to be receiving much of the load once again this year, he blew the doors of the NFL last season rushing for 1699 yards only to fall right behind Adrian Peterson. There is no reason that this team cannot be at the top of this list no questions asked. The top 3 teams should be neck and neck this season, look for Michael Turner to Rush for about 1500 yards this season, his speedy complement Norwood should gain around 500 yards this season.

3.New York Giants- The nfl's most feared back? Possibly so with Brandon Jacobs returning from another stellar season in East Rutherford where he gained just over 1,000 yards and 15 tds.Nobody wants to step into the path of this damn near 270 lb bulldozer averaging 5 yards per carry last season. Look for him to rush for about 1100 yards if he stays healthy. The reason this team makes this list is the the fact that they were number one in this category last year and they have plenty of depth to go around.

4. The Tennessee Titans- Suprised? I hope not, This team scraped opposing teams for 137 YPG last season and not much is going to change this season with Lendale White and Chris Johnson blowing through defense's like Kobayashi does hotdogs. Look for Johnson to get around 1200 yards on the ground and Lendale should get around 700. I would say they would get more, but they drafted Kenny Britt he should seek the ball quite a bit if he is in any form like he was at Rutgers.

5.The Oakland Raiders- They have three very capable backs that should be shredding teams into the third and fourth quarter this coming season, the only way they will be able to do this ofcourse is to keep up with opposing teams offense so they will not have to pass on every down.Darren Mcfadden is the projected starter and Michael Bush should take over 2nd on the depth chart complementing Darren as a nice one-two punch. Meanwhile Fargas will be used as more of a back to exspose  offenses after Bush and Mcfadden have already pounded them to death.Darren Mcfadden projected 700 rushing yards 450 receiving yards. Michael Bush should look to earn about 900 yards while Fargas should scrape around 400 yards seeing he will be a backup to both backs.

Honorable mention : Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens could easily press Oakland out of the top 5 spot with performances like they had in the 08-09 season.
