Stacey King Likens Jimmy Butler to Michael Jordan After Last-Second 3-Pointer
Chicago Bulls announcer Stacey King nearly short-circuited after Jimmy Butler’s Thursday night performance against the Atlanta Hawks.
The Bulls small forward drained a game-winning three as time expired to give Chicago the 85-84 win. The shot capped off his 20-point fourth quarter and sent King into Michael Jordan-comparison mode.
CBS Sports' Matt Moore spotted video of Butler’s feat and King’s subsequent crowning.
“Oh my goodness! Give me the hot sauce!” King yelled. “Call him Jimmy Jordan because he looked like Michael Jordan tonight!”
Yes, it was a preseason game. Yes, it didn't matter for anything. But it is an important indicator of things to come, at least on the play-by-play end.
Both Butler and King appear to be in midseason form. Sure they were playing against/commentating on scrubs at times, but it’s never a bad sign to hear your announcer already making Jordan comparisons before the season even starts.
We’ll see how things pan out for Butler, but King is already well on his way to outdoing his magnum opus “Facebook” call from 2012.
