Aaron Gordon Slams Absurd 2-Handed Dunk over Flamengo Defender

Dan CarsonOct 17, 2014

Aaron Gordon is going to disable an NBA rim one day. Bank on that.

The former McDonald's All-American and Arizona Wildcats standout has been bashing rims for years, and pro scouts fairly slavered at the mouth upon seeing the 6'9" freshman show off his 39-inch vertical at the NBA combine in May.

So it comes as no surprise to see Gordon nearly jumping over defenders in preseason exhibition games. The 19-year-old Orlando Magic rookie nearly brought down the gym Wednesday with a two-handed slam against professional Brazilian powerhouse Flamengo.

Gordon grabbed an entry pass in the high post during the fourth quarter, turned to the basket and threw down a two-handed rim-bender over Flamengo's Vitor Benite. With a few short steps, Gordon went from earthbound to having his knees around Benite's shoulders.

Here’s a clip of the dunk, courtesy of Ball Up NBA—because it must be watched on a loop.

The scariest part is Gordon knows he could have cleared the Brazilian guard.

"I jumped around him," Gordon told NBA.com's John Denton. "In the aftermath, hindsight is 20/20, but I probably could have jumped over him. But I just avoided the charge and dunked it."

Indeed, Gordon intelligently avoided the charge. He also kindly left Benite's likeness off a ream of posters in the process.

Gordon will likely have plenty of opportunities to leave his mark on NBA rims this season. The Magic are excited about their team's athleticism and appear content to let their young talent lead the charge in an uptempo offense this season.

We'll see how Gordon fares against stiffer competition, but suffice it to say, the kid is ready to bend iron.
