Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Brandon LaFell's Post-Week 7 Fantasy Outlook

R. Cory SmithOct 16, 2014

Thursday night was a big one for the New England Patriots passing game. So big that it even included a sighting from Danny Amendola in the end zone.

Julian Edelman and Brandon LaFell continued to look like the top receivers in New England against the New York Jets. But for Amendola, he might have finally turned a corner when Tom Brady found him for just his third touchdown in a Patriots jersey.

Below is a look at stats for all three players from Thursday night.

Though he was fourth on the team in receiving yards on the night, Edelman was still the most important target for Brady against the Jets. Throwing his way nine times, the slot receiver simply had a down week as a playmaker.

As for LaFell, his first season with the Pats is proving to be a productive one at the midway point. The wideout was targeted early and often against the Jets, as Brad Evans of Yahoo points out he could be on the rise:

Along with LaFell, Amendola experienced a breakout night of his own. The receiver reached the end zone, but that was his only production on the night with the three targets he received.

Moving forward, Edelman is still the receiver to own despite having targets taken away by Rob Gronkowski and others. LaFell, while overshadowed by Edelman, might be worthy of a pickup as a flex option in deep leagues.

Amendola still can't be trusted until his targets in the red zone become a trend rather than a one-time occurrence. With decent matchups against the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts coming in the next several weeks, LaFell should be one to watch while Edelman is a great option.
