Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 season hasn't gotten off to an ideal start, and the impending absence of star defender David Luiz doesn't figure to help matters.
Citing Globo Esporte, Jonathan Johnson of ESPN FC claimed the Brazilian international figures to miss two weeks after suffering a thigh injury:
Per Johnson, Luiz will be joined on the injured list by a few key PSG teammates for the Parisians' match against Lens Friday:
PSG are currently just third in the Ligue 1 table behind Marseille and Bordeaux. Although they have yet to lose, they have struggled to close out games with just three wins and six draws.
Even without Luiz and a host of others, Paris Saint-Germain will be expected to beat 18th-place Lens. If they are going to have sustained success and make a run toward the top of the standings, though, Luiz's presence will be paramount moving forward.
