Breaking News: Cardinals Complete Deal for Matt Holliday

10:24 AM: According to several sources, including ESPN's Tim Kurkjian, the St. Louis Cardinals are very close to acquiring Matt Holliday from the A's for Brett Wallace and two other players.

10:49 AM: It now appears that the two other players (along with Brett Wallace) headed to the A's would be Outfielder Shane Peterson and righty Clayton Mortensen, if the deal goes through. It's still unclear who would pay the remaining 6MM on Holliday's contract. 

10:56 AM: Jon Heyman of SI.com tweets that the deal is VERY CLOSE to being completed.

11:17 AM: Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse hears the deal WILL go down. The deal is being finalized as we speak, and both teams are currently going over medical records.

11:28 AM: ESPN's Buster Olney reports the deal is compete. The Oakland A's will send Matt Holliday and cash to St. Louis for Brett Wallace, Clayton Mortensen, and Shane Peterson. Oakland will pay 1.5MM on Holliday's remaining contract, leaving St. Louis to pay 4.5MM.
