Building the Perfect WWE NXT Prospect

Ryan DilbertOct 16, 2014

The WWE Performance Center is the company's laboratory where officials look to perform the alchemy of transforming raw talent into stardom, NXT prospects into WWE centerpieces.

If it could merge the strengths of its best workers, fitting Adrian Neville's legs into the same frame that holds Enzo Amore's mouth, the end result would be a booker's dream. No one prospect is perfect, but that doesn't stop one from dreaming such a wrestler up.

Using only current NXT stars, the following envisions a patchwork grappler who would be the most entertaining and impressive human to enter Full Sail University.

To construct the wrestler's base, one has to turn to the NXT champ.

Legs: Adrian Neville

Nobody at NXT moves around the ring as swiftly and impressively as Neville does. His legs churn at an uncanny speed as he charges at his foe.

His speed, agility and leaping ability compare favorably to anyone wrestling today. Watching him work against Rob Van Dam back in June, one can't help but compare him to Rey Mysterio and RVD himself.

When Neville launches himself from the top rope it feels as if he's been let out of a cannon. His move set is a dazzling array that includes moonsaults, flips, a standing Shooting Star Press and his jaw-dropping finisher: Red Arrow.

To thrill fans through the air, the perfect prospect's bottom half needs to come from The Man Gravity Forgot.

Mouth: Enzo Amore

Want to get a crowd hyped? Arm Amore with a mic and send him out to the ring.

He's NXT's top talker, an electric presence flinging catchphrases with little effort.

Amore has become one of NXT's most popular performers despite being subpar in the ring. He's funny, charming and teeming with "it" factor, and as he's known to say, you can't teach that.

It doesn't matter what he's saying sometimes. He's listed off types of haircuts and engaged the audience.

NXT is filled with great athletes and talented grapplers. Finding someone who can engage the crowd like Amore is often a fruitless search, but the ideal NXT talent spits fire a la Amore.

Head: Sami Zayn

It takes more than physical gifts to be a great wrestler, as Mojo Rawley is finding out.

Zayn doesn't look like the ideal Superstar. He's thin, not all that toned and gives off a vibe that says "bassist" more than it does "brawler."

Yet the well-traveled wrestler finds a way to produce great matches on a regular basis. Credit a lot of that to his agility, but much of it is due to his ring smarts.

He has a natural feel for in-ring storytelling. He's not just in there hitting big move after big move; he's pulling in the crowd and having them care about whether he wins or loses.

Fans have seen that at play several times, but it was abundantly clear at NXT Arrival when he battled Cesaro.

He made every elbow and kick a reason to cheer. It was a bout that also showed off his showmanship. It's hard to find a wrestler who wobbles when he's hit and uses facial expressions to enhance a match as well as Zayn does.

Fitting the Frankenstein-like prospect with Zayn's brain and in-ring know-how assures classic contests.

Size/Power: Baron Corbin

Corbin is an intimidating man.

He towers over the majority of his opponents, tattoos scrawled across his large frame. To learn that Corbin was an offensive lineman in the NFL is no surprise. He's a big dude who has no issues flinging his foes around the ring.

At 6'8'' and 275 pounds per WWE.com, he's the kind of specimen WWE covets. He looks like something a comic book artist thought up, a biker born in one's nightmares.

Perhaps nothing demonstrates his strength like his finisher, which he dubs "End of Days." To send a man hurtling toward the canvas at that speed requires some big-time power.

If there were a prospect who could fly like Neville, trash-talk like Amore, think like Zayn and have Corbin's size and power, WWE would be smart to go ahead and get a world title nameplate ready for him.
