WWE Main Event Results: Winners, Twitter Reaction and Analysis from October 14
Welcome to Bleacher Report's recap of this week's Main Event. Here is where we take a look at what happened on the show, examining the winners, reactions to matches and any possible ramifications coming out of the program.
This week's show featured a healthy mix of current storylines and random matches with no feud behind them. On paper, it would look like any other episode of Main Event, but it actually ended up being better than expected.
Damien Sandow gave another standout performance, R-Truth picked up a desperately needed win and Rusev delivered one of the better matches we have seen from him since joining the main roster.

Let's take a look at what went down on this week's Main Event.
MizTV
Miz started off the show by bragging about his victories over Sheamus. He brought out Damien Mizdow dressed as Sheamus, complete with white spandex skin, orange wig and painted beard.
Mizdow, in a terrible Irish accent, told Miz that he was the better fighter. Sheamus came out to join in on the fun, and Mizdow mimicked every movement Sheamus made while they were in the ring together.
Sheamus pretended to enjoy it until he clotheslined Mizdow and chased Miz from the ring. Sheamus finished things off with a Dean Martin reference and a Brogue Kick to Mizdow.
The saving grace in this segment was Mizdow. He continues to get better and better with this gimmick, and the crowd supporting him is going to make it get even more entertaining.
Grade: B+
Notes and Highlights
- Mizdow's wig looked more like Beaker from Sesame Street than Sheamus.
- Wearing the white spandex to represent Sheamus' pale skin was a nice touch to the outfit.
- It's safe to say that we all hope this gimmick leads to Mizdow turning babyface and going off on his own once the character has run its course.
Twitter Reaction
"I don't understand the Sheamus hate. I enjoy seeing this guy in the ring. #mainevent

Tyson Kidd vs. R-Truth
Tyson Kidd gave a quick promo before the match, where he talked about being Natalya's husband and how he wears the pants in the family.
He also berated his wife throughout the match for not helping him cheat and not staying in the corner she was supposed to stand in.
Natalya nearly ended up getting knocked off the apron at one point, causing enough of a distraction to allow Truth to recover and hit his finisher to pick up the win.
Considering this match was all about a storyline and not the actual wrestling, it wasn't bad. In a short amount of time, they managed to tell a story and did a good job making it believable.
Winner: R-Truth
Grade: C+
Notes and Highlights
- Natalya's acting is better in this storyline than it has ever been on Total Divas. She does a good job looking like she is trying to put on a brave face.
- It's too bad this victory probably doesn't mean anything for R-Truth's current position on the roster. He's over 40. If WWE management wants to do anything with him, now is the time.
- Both Kidd and Natalya deserve better than this, but they are doing a good job looking like they really have issues.
Twitter Reaction
Justin Gabriel vs. Cesaro
Justin Gabriel and Cesaro fought a fast-paced match with a lot of highlights. Gabriel was actually able to get in some of the high-flying offense he makes look so easy, but it wasn't enough to get him the win over Cesaro.
Gabriel is the perfect opponent for a guy like Cesaro. They complement each other very well. The most surprising thing is that we did not see a ridiculous uppercut spot. These two have pulled off some amazing moments with that move in the past, so not seeing it was a little disappointing.
Winner: Cesaro
Grade: B-
Notes and Highlights
- Did Gabriel dye his hair a darker color? He looks different for some reason.
- These are the kind of matches that make Main Event fun. There is no underlying story or feud. It's just two good workers doing a good job wrestling.
- Cesaro needs to break the rules a little more if he is going to remain a heel. He doesn't get enough heat because he wrestles too clean sometimes.
Twitter Reaction
Big E vs. Rusev
Rusev and Lana gave a promo before the match got started, where they talked about the confrontation between Rusev and Big Show that will take place at Hell in a Cell.
For being two guys known more for their power than speed, Rusev and Big E kept up an impressive pace. Rusev definitely had control for the majority of the bout, but Big E was able to get in a decent amount of offense.
The crowd chanted for Big E on two different occasions during the course of the match, but their support wasn't enough to keep him from tapping out to The Accolade.
This was probably as good as the bout they had at Money in the Bank. It might have even been a little better. There was a great flow to the action, and you could tell both men were trying their hardest to put on a good show.
Winner: Rusev
Grade: B+
Notes and Highlights
- Does Rusev not know that talking and speaking are the same thing?
- Did anyone else think it was weird that Rusev said "anus" so many times?
- Rusev is getting better with each passing week. His athleticism is insane and the variety of moves he is using in his matches is continuing to improve.
