San Diego Chargers cornerback Brandon Flowers' status for Sunday's AFC West showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs is unclear due to a groin injury.

According to Michael Gehlken of The San Diego Union-Tribune, Flowers was injured in the third quarter of San Diego's Week 6 win over the Oakland Raiders, though it's not considered to be serious.

"The Chargers cornerback was forced to exit Sunday's win against the Raiders with a third-quarter groin injury," Gehlken wrote. "The ailment is considered "not too bad," a source said, although his status is in question for this weekend, likely to be determined over the coming days."

Flowers leads the team with seven passes defended and two interceptions. He's also fourth in tackles with 20.

The Chargers sit atop the AFC West thanks in large part to their defense allowing 209.3 passing yards per game, which is led by the 28-year-old star.
