WWE 2K15: Details Revealed Surrounding Season Pass DLC for Upcoming Release

Brian MaziqueOct 14, 2014

Last week WWE and 2K Games announced the return of the Season Pass program that will work in conjunction with the release of WWE 2K15. On Tuesday, the details of the downloadable content that will be provided with the program was revealed in a press release provided to Bleacher Report.

As has been the case in the past, the content is available for "a la carte" purchase for gamers who own the game on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Gamers who buy the Season Pass for $24.99 will get every piece of content and WWE Diva Paige (not the human being, but her playable character in the game). Aside from having Paige as a playable character, those who purchase the Season Pass will also save just over 20 percent of the total cost of purchasing the content individually.

This year, the goodies are heavily focused on expanding the game's single-player campaign mode called 2K Showcase.

The mode is built around some of the biggest rivalries in the WWE's history. For starters in the retail version, gamers will relive the epic feuds between John Cena and CM Punk, as well as Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

Specific dates weren't shared for the rollout of content, but the press release says that it will begin to be available to the public late in 2014 and will continue to be released through the first part of 2015.

Traditionally, the Season Pass content has begun in November with monthly rollouts in December and January. With the game's release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One delayed until Nov. 18, it's possible the schedule for DLC could be pushed back as well.

Per the press release provided by 2K Sports, here are the details on new feuds, playable characters, moves, arenas, individual prices and some of the cool experiences gamers may have an opportunity to enjoy with the bonus content.

Accelerator

  • Players will gain instant access to all unlockable content available in the game (excluding downloadable content)
  • The Accelerator will be available for a suggested price of $1.99

This is designed for gamers who want to cut to the chase and get all of the unlockables without conquering all of the challenges (cheaters).

2K Showcase: One More Match

  • Story focused on the rivalry between WWE Superstars Randy Orton and Christian in 2011
  • Playable WWE Superstars: Christian, Randy Orton, Edge, Mark Henry and Sheamus
  • Playable arenas from 2011: SmackDown, Extreme Rules, Over the Limit and Capitol Punishment
  • 2K Showcase: One More Match will be available for a suggested price of $9.99

Wow, it was somewhat surprising to see Captain Charisma get some love in 2K Showcase. Christian is not traditionally a focus of these types of honors but is one of the WWE's most underrated performers. His "one more match" gimmick was big in 2011.

He and Alberto Del Rio's match at Extreme Rules that year was one of the best of Captain Charisma's career.

Let's hope that makes it in.

2K Showcase: Hall of Pain

  • Story focused on top matches for WWE Superstar Mark Henry
  • Playable WWE Superstars: Mark Henry, Big Show, Kane, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sheamus, The Great Khali, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan and Ryback
  • Playable arenas: SmackDown (2011), Vengeance (2011) and WrestleMania 29
  • 2K Showcase: Hall of Pain will be available for a suggested price of $9.99

Speaking of underrated WWE Superstars, if there's one longtime performer who deserves another serious run at the title it's Mark Henry. The World's Strongest Man is the focus in this bit of content, and it seems certain that this iconic WWE moment from Vengeance 2011 will be part of his chapter of 2K Showcase.

The collapsing ring has been in the game as an OMG moment in the past, but perhaps since it would be part of the fabric of the DLC, it will get even more over-the-top presentation.

2K Showcase: Path of the Warrior

  • Story focused on the career of WWE Hall of Famer Ultimate Warrior
  • Playable WWE Hall of Famers: Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant and Sgt. Slaughter
  • Playable WWE Legends: Honky Tonk Man, Rick Rude, Macho King and Colonel Mustafa
  • Playable WWE Superstars: The Undertaker and Hunter Hearst Helmsley
  • Access to WWE Hall of Fame ring announcer Howard Finkel and WWE managers Jimmy Hart, Bobby Heenan, Paul Bearer, Sherri, Sid Justice and General Adnan
  • Playable arenas: WrestleMania 6, 7 and 12; SummerSlam (1988, 1990 and 1991); Saturday Night’s Main Event 24 and Madison Square Garden;
  • 2K Showcase: Path of the Warrior will be available for a suggested price of $9.99

It's only right that recently deceased WWE Hall of Fame inductee The Ultimate Warrior be featured in his own piece of 2K Showcase. Almost as cool as the Warrior's inclusion is the group of legends that will be playable as part of the Path of the Warrior experience.

Will the Warrior's hilarious and ridiculous 45-second win over intercontinental champion Honky Tonk Man at SummerSlam 1988 be included?

Maybe it'll be cooler in the video game.

Colonel Mustafa and Randy Savage as the "Macho King" are also great additions to this story. Sid Justice is listed as a manager, but our fingers are crossed for him to be a playable Superstar as well.

WCW Pack

  • Playable WCW Superstars: Fit Finlay, Lord Steven Regal, Bam Bam Bigelow, Diamond Dallas Page and Lex Luger
  • The WCW Pack will be available for a suggested price of $7.99

It's awesome to see Lex Luger included in the game. The same can be said for Bam Bam Bigelow. The inclusion of two legends rarely seen in video games is the type of DLC most fans hope for.

NXT Arrival

  • Playable NXT Superstars: JBL, Adam Rose and The Ascension (Konnor and Victor)
  • Playable NXT Diva: Emma
  • NXT Arrival will be available for a suggested price of $6.99

Despite the fact that The Ascension have been arguably the most dominating tag team in the short history of NXT, it's a pleasant surprise to see them included in the game. For those concerned about the inclusion of guys like Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville, they will be included as playable characters with the retail release by default or earned through the WWE 2K MyCareer experience.

New Moves Pack

  • Moves Pack: More than 30 new moves, including an alternate version of Sister Abigail (performed from the ring corner and made popular by Bray Wyatt) and Multiple Gut Wrenches (made popular by Cesaro)
  • The New Moves Pack will be available for a suggested price of $3.99

The more maneuvers we get from Cesaro's toolbox of awesomeness the better. We'll have our eyes peeled for a more detailed list as the release of this aspect of the content approaches.

Things are beginning to come together for this upcoming release. WWE 2K15 hits stores for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Oct. 28 and on Nov. 18 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
