6 Excellent Cesc Fabregas Stats Fans Should Be Talking About

Rowanne WesthenryOct 14, 2014

Cesc FabregasChelsea career has brought joy to stat fans. The former Arsenal man has racked up eight assists and one goal in just nine appearances for the Blues, and he has linked up especially well with fellow summer signing Diego Costa. In fact, the two have been involved in half of Chelsea's 21 goals in the Premier League so far.

Jose Mourinho has described Fabregas as a "dream" for the striker to play in front of, and with the pair producing such impressive numbers it is not hard to see where he is coming from.

B/R looked at Costa’s career stats just a few weeks ago, so it is only fair to give Fabregas the same honour now. Here are six of the best statistics from the other half of Stamford Bridge’s sensational Spanish duo.

All statistics from Transfermarkt.co.uk unless otherwise noted.

Goals

1 of 6

While Fabregas' partnership with Costa has rightly garnered praise from pundits, such prolific productivity is not unfamiliar to the midfielder. He has been involved in 255 goals in 458 club appearances over his career so far, giving him an average of better than a goal or assist every other game.

This ratio is what prompted Mourinho to fork out the £27 million fee for the star this summer, and what makes Arsenal's refusal of their buy-back option so baffling.

Sick-Note

2 of 6

Arsenal's decision to let their buy-back option on Fabregas expire could be down to the number of injuries he picked up during his time in north London.

Between the 2007-08 season and his departure for Barcelona at the end of 2010-11, Fabregas missed an average of 17 games per season for the Gunners, compared to just over two for the Catalan club.

Know Your Enemy

At the time of writing, Fabregas has lined up against Chelsea more than any other club. In fact he has appeared against the Blues twice as many times as for them. However, he also has his worst career loss-rate against them, having tasted defeat in 10 of those 18 appearances.

Tight at the Top

4 of 6

In 32 career appearances against Chelsea's title rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal, Fabregas has scored four goals and created a further 10. Considering the run of form the Blues are on at the moment, he could get close to doubling that while adding a new medal to his collection.

Goody Two-Shoes

5 of 6

Fabregas' disciplinary record is exceptionally good. In 458 appearances he has been booked 88 times and picked up his only red card for Arsenal against Everton, alleviating concerns that Chelsea might lose him to suspension for a chunk of the season.

He Hates Tottenham

6 of 6

Unsurprisingly for someone who spent their formative years playing for their north London rivals, Fabregas has developed a knack for scoring against Tottenham Hotspur. During his time at Arsenal he racked up two goals and 11 assists in 15 appearances against Spurs, and Blues supporters will be hoping for a similar haul during his Stamford Bridge stay.
