Latest News and Rumors Surrounding WWE 2K15 for October 13

Ryan DilbertOct 13, 2014

More glimpses of WWE 2K15 emerged as its release date nears.

A John Cena-curated soundtrack, downloadable content and available moves were all at the center of the latest news surrounding the WWE video game. Fans also got sneak peeks at Dean Ambrose's attire and CM Punk in virtual form.

The current-gen version of WWE 2K15 makes its way into stores on Oct. 28 in North America and on Halloween for international markets. For the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions, fans will have to wait until Nov. 18 (North America) or Nov. 21 (internationally).

Info about the MyCareer and 2K Showcase modes has come out, but there's still a hunger to see more gameplay. Fans haven't even seen what Punk looks like.

That is until the Internet seemingly got a hold of a screenshot.

Images, Leaked or Otherwise

2K Sports has not released any official screenshots of The Best in the World. There is still uncertainty about whether he will even be in the game thanks to legal discussions between him and WWE, per GameSpot.com's Rob Crossley.

There is, however, a picture going around that appears to be a still from the game. AJPUNKGUY23 was among the many fans who tweeted this photo:

Punk's trunks in this shot match what he wore during his battle with Cena at Money in the Bank. It's likely from that match as part of the 2K Showcase mode.

For a guy who wasn't around when 2K Sports scanned the roster for the game, Punk looks pretty good here. Many believed that his model would be terrible compared to everyone else.

This first look suggests otherwise.

As the Smacktalks YouTube channel points out, WWE showed a few shots of the game on the 15th anniversary of SmackDown. Those shots revealed that Ambrose's new grungier gear will be available.

One would assume then that 2K Sports also managed to add Seth Rollins' new superhero-like look as well.

Early DLC Info

Paige fans couldn't have been pleased to see that she didn't make the game's official roster. Gamers will, however, get to play as the former Divas champ thanks to WWE 2K15's downloadable content.

As announced on WWE.com, this bonus material "will be focused on additions for 2K Showcase, the game’s story-driven single-player campaign. In addition, those who purchase the Season Pass will get exclusive access to WWE Diva Paige."

Like last year, 2K Sports is dubbing this extra content the game's "Season Pass program." More information is due out soon, but for now, having Ms. Hell in Boots in the game is welcome news.

It's fans' best bet to see a properly booked AJ Lee vs. Paige feud.

New Moves

2K Sports' Bryan Williams let fans in on some new ways to attack one's opponent in WWE 2K15. Williams took to Twitter to list them:

Playing as Cesaro should be fun anyway. Adding the ability to nail foes with a European uppercut to the back of the head is going to increase that.

Soundtrack

The music for WWE 2K15 won't just be Superstars' entrance themes. A mix of heavy and poppy awaits.

2K Sports announced, as shared by F4WOnline.com, that Cena has curated the game's soundtrack. The press release states that "the soundtrack will feature 12 unique tracks from established and rising artists that transcend several music genres, including hip-hop, rock and country."

A companion soundtrack will feature two collaborations between Cena and rapper Wiz Khalifa, which are exclusive to the companion soundtrack. It will be available for download on Oct. 21. The song list for that is as follows:

  • Wiz Khalifa and John Cena: "All Day"
  • B.o.B: "Ready" (feat. Future)
  • Rudimental: "Free" (feat. Emeli Sande and Nas)
  • Wiz Khalifa: "We Dem Boyz"
  • Flo Rida: "Wild Ones" (feat. Sia) (WrestleMania 28 Version)
  • Knife Party: "Bonfire"
  • Big Smo: "Workin'" (feat. Alexander King)
  • Mystery Skulls: "Ghost"
  • Royal Blood: "Come On Over"
  • Wiz Khalifa and John Cena: "Breaks"

Additionally, the in-game soundtrack includes the following songs:

  • Avenged Sevenfold: "This Means War"
  • Dizzee Rascal: "Heart of a Warrior" (feat. Teddy Sky)
  • Florida Georgia Line: "This Is How We Roll" (feat. Luke Bryan)
  • Rise Against: "Zero Visibility"

WWE fans will recognize Florida Georgia Line, who distracted from the Intercontinental Championship match at Night of Champions. This time out, fans who aren't into the duo can simply put the game on mute and play something from their own collection.

It's hard to please everyone with a soundtrack, and this one being so rap heavy is sure to turn some folks off. 2K Sports (and Cena) chose some fun tracks for a game that promises to be mighty fun itself.
