Arturo Vidal

Friday, October 17

Anthony Chapman of the Daily Express reports that Real Madrid have moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

Chapman writes that Juventus will set an asking price of £48 million for the 27-year-old, whom United had previously hoped to secure for a fee in the region of £30 million.

He suggests that Juventus are more open to negotiations with Madrid due to their own interest in Sami Khedira. The German international could form part of a player plus cash deal for Vidal.

Following Wednesday's story, Marca's J. I. Garcia-Ochoa spoke to Silva regarding Real Madrid's interest.

"When a club like Real Madrid want you, it always makes you feel proud and happy," Silva told him. "I know that I have to be focused here at Cruzeiro, that's my club, but interest from Real Madrid inspires me to keep working hard."

The 21-year-old confirmed that he would be happy to join Madrid if they were able to come to an agreement with Cruzeiro. His current teammate and former Madrid player Julio Baptista has spoken favourably to Silva about his own time at the Bernabeu.

Marca report that Real Madrid are lining up Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva as a potential replacement for Sami Khedira

Khedira is looking increasingly likely to depart, either in January or when his contract expires next summer, and Carlos Carpio writes that Silva is the man Madrid have identified as his successor.

The 21-year-old was part of the Brazil U20 side that won this summer's Toulon Youth Tournament and is thought to be on the verge of a call up to the senior national team.

Bleacher Report columnist Chris Atkins described Silva as "tall, strong and an excellent passer" in a recent piece for ESPN.

David De Gea

The Mirror's David McDonnell reports that Manchester United will offer goalkeeper David De Gea a bumper five-year contract to ward off reported interest from Real Madrid.

De Gea's current deal runs until the summer of 2016, but United are keen for him to put pen to paper on a new contract before Christmas to avoid any uncertainty over his future.

McDonnell writes that United will double De Gea's current salary to £120,000 per week in order to keep him at the club.

Sami Khedira

Tuesday, October 14

Anthony Chapman of the Daily Express reports that Chelsea could use goalkeeper Petr Cech as bait to jump ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

Khedira is out of contract at the end of the season and has been consistently linked with a move to Arsenal—either in January or on a free transfer next summer.

But Chapman writes that Jose Mourinho and Chelsea will seek to steal a march on their London rivals by offering up Cech on loan as part of a January deal for the Germany international.

David De Gea

Monday, October 13

C. Carpio and H. Cerezo of Marca report that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, whom they consider to be an ideal long-term replacement for Iker Casillas.

They write that Madrid have been following De Gea for some time and that their contacts believe De Gea would be open to a move to the Bernabeu.

But a deal is only likely to happen after Casillas has left Real. The veteran goalkeeper's contract expires in 2017, a year after De Gea's current deal with United comes to a close.

Marca do, however, suggest that De Gea's arrival could be accelerated if the Spain international fails to agree a new deal at Old Trafford.

"

For now, no agreement has been reached between Manchester United and his agent, Jorge Mendes. The player is looking for a higher fixed sum, with less of his salary depending on how many matches he plays.

It may be that the shot-stopper ends up putting pen to paper and renewing with the English club, but his agent promised the youngster some time ago that one day he would find him a place with Real Madrid. A possible way to reel him in next summer may be a move similar to that undertaken to net Kroosproviding of course that De Gea doesn't renew.
