Best PGA Tour Players Without a Career Win

Mike DudurichOct 13, 2014

There will always be players who are on the "best PGA Tour players without a career win."

One by one players will win, and new players will replace them.

Here's a list of players who make up the current list, in my opinion.

Some are young, guys such as Bud Cauley and Cameron Tringale.

Some are older, such as Charlie Wi and Jeff Overton.

And some are in-between, such as Nicolas Colsaerts.

Check it out and see what you think.

Charlie Wi

Charlie Wi has been in contention many times during his PGA Tour career.

While he's still looking for his first victory after 232 starts, Charlie Wi has made a nice living, making $9,930,397.

He's been able to post 57 top 25s and 21 top 10s and has been in contention on a number of occasions.

Among his top 10s are five second-place finishes and a third-place finish.

In 2012, Wi held a three-shot lead at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am after three rounds but fell by the wayside as Phil Mickelson blistered Pebble Beach with a 64 to win. He was 13 under par through three rounds, but David Toms was just a little better in the final round of the Colonial Invitational, winning 67-69.

Wi even posted a 61 in the final round of the 2008 Valero Texas Open, but because Zach Johnson was a little better overall, it was another second-place finish.

Jeff Overton

Jeff Overton has always been known as a unique personality on the PGA Tour.

He gained great celebrity in the 2010 Ryder Cup when he holed out a shot from the fairway and then yelled "Boom Baby."

The 31-year-old Overton has posted 62 top 25s and 30 top 10s.

Those impressive numbers have helped him earn $11,852,075 in his 11-year career.

Overton finished second four times: the 2010 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the 2010 Greenbrier Classic, the 2007 Wyndham Championship and the 2010 HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Nicolas Colsaerts

Nicolas Colsaerts can hit the ball a long way.

Nicolas Colsaerts has played on the PGA Tour off and on for five years and brings with him a reputation of being a great power player.

That player was on great display in the 2012 Ryder Cup when he put on a sparkling display with eight birdies and an eagle. After that, the next step seemed to be PGA Tour stardom. That was the first of two Ryder Cup appearances for Colsaerts.

It hasn't exactly worked out that way, but Colsaerts still shows flashes of potential. In 40 events, he's had nine top 25s, five top 10s and a pair of second-place finishes: the 2012 Open Championship and the 2012 Wyndham Championship.

Colsaerts is only 31 years old and is just entering the prime of his career.

Briny Baird

There's nothing flashy about Briny Baird, actually Baird rarely shows anything that might resemble a personality.

Unless, of course you think $12,634,862 carries some personality with it. That's how much the 42-year-old has earned in his 14 years on Tour. That puts him 97th on the all-time money list without a single victory.

Baird's closest brush with victory came in 2011 at the Frys.com Open when he chipped in for an eagle on the next-to-last hole to get into a playoff with Bryce Molder. Both players were looking for their first win and Molder got it with a birdie on the sixth extra hole.

Over the course of his career, he's recorded 88 top 25s, 31 top 10s and four second-place finishes: 2001 John Deere Classic; 2011 Frys.com Open; 2003 Buick Open; 2004 FUNAI Classic at the WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort; 2009 Verizon Heritage and 2014 The McGladrey Classic.

Bud Cauley

Bud Cauley had a very good amateur and collegiate career and hasn't done too badly as a young professional.

He's had 80 starts on the PGA Tour and has 22 top 25s and nine top 10s.

Cauley has a pair of third-place finishes: Frys.com Open and the 2012 Wyndham Championship.

This 24-year-old has a world of potential and won't be on this list for long.

Ryo Ishikawa

Ryo Ishikawa burst onto the PGA Tour with a great deal of hype.

It's hard to imagine Ryo Ishikawa is entering his seventh year on the PGA Tour.

At age 17, he came to the United States from his native Japan, where he was known as the Bashful Prince.

It hasn't been a roaring success, as noted by his best finishes being a pair of seconds: the 2012 Puerto Rico Open and the 2014 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

But the kid has won a dozen times internationally, giving hope to PGA Tour victories to come.

He's teed it up 92 times and has eight top 10s and 18 top 25s.

Ishikawa is an icon in Japan and will become a very popular champion when the wins start coming here.

Cameron Tringale

Cameron Tringale seems to be a big star in the making.
Cameron Tringale seems to be a big star in the making.

Cameron Tringale was a three-time All-American selection, won four times in college and was a member of the 2009 winning Walker Cup competition.

With that sort of pedigree, the wins were expected to come very quickly once he got to the PGA Tour, but that hasn't happened yet.

Tringale was in contention at the first FedEx Cup playoff event, the Barclays, but he couldn't keep up with Hunter Mahan's final-round burst and finished in a T2.

He's established some consistency, having finished in the top 90 on the money list the last four years.

Tringale has made 137 starts on the PGA Tour, and in that time he has posted 34 top-25 finishes and 12 top 10s.

When the wins come, they may well come in bunches.
